Bergenfield NJ Man Accused of Smoking Marijuana, Resisting Arrest on Palisades Interstate Parkway

Bergenfield NJ Resisting Arrest ChargesA Bergenfield NJ man allegedly resisted arrest during a marijuana arrest in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

According to officials, a Palisades Interstate Parkway police officer was performing a routine check of Rockefeller Lookout in Englewood Cliffs NJ when he saw suspicious vehicle parked in the area. The officer walked toward the car and reportedly smelled burning marijuana.

As the PIP officer got closer, he allegedly saw the 23-year-old suspect smoking a marijuana cigarette.

The officer told the suspect to step out of the car. However, the suspect reportedly refused the officer’s instruction. When the officer repeated the instruction, the suspect allegedly began to destroy the marijuana cigarette.

The officer immediately entered the vehicle and attempted to remove the suspect. However, the suspect allegedly resisted arrest and caused minor hand injuries to the officer.

Police were eventually able to subdue and arrest the suspect after backup arrived. The other offices were from several different police departments, including Englewood Cliffs, Port Authority, and Palisades Interstate Parkway.

After being arrested, the suspect was charged with marijuana possession, resisting arrest, and hindering apprehension.
