Lyndhurst Municipal Court Information

Lyndhurst is a township in Bergen County, NJ. The township has a population of 20,500 people and a total area of 4.9 square miles. Lyndhurst has two train stations – Lyndhurst Station and Kingsland Station – which are both served by New Jersey Transit and offer direct access to Hoboken Terminal. When a person is charged with a criminal offense classified as a disorderly persons or petty disorderly persons, or a traffic violation in the township, there case is heard and decided at the Lyndhurst Municipal Court. A disorderly persons offense is not a “crime” in the sense that it does not involve an indictment; however, it will result in a criminal record if you are convicted. You can also be sentenced to up to 6 months in the county jail for a disorderly persons offense. Even motor vehicle charges like driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol may involve a jail sentence if you have prior convictions for DUI. Indictable offenses, or felonies, are sent to the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.
