Fair Lawn Man Accused of Trying to Lure Underage Victim

Fair Lawn Luring SuspectA Fair Lawn New Jersey man has been charged with multiple sex crimes after he allegedly tried to lure an underage female.

The suspect, a 60-year-old resident of Fair Lawn NJ, allegedly sent numerous text messages to an underage female victim. According to authorities, the victim was just 15 years old.

Law enforcement opened an investigation into the suspect in May 2015 after the 15-year-old victim came forward and brought allegations against the suspect.

Detectives with the New Jersey State Police Digital Technology Investigations Unit conducted a sting operation and had an undercover officer exchange texts with the suspect. The suspect allegedly sent a number of texts to the police officer and tried to get the officer, posing as the victim, to meet in person for the purpose of having sex.

Police arrested the suspect and charged him with various sex crimes, including second degree luring of a minor and third degree showing obscene materials to a minor.

Authorities also indicated that they are investigating the suspect for other sexual offenses, so it is possible that he will face additional criminal charges at a later date.

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
