Police Arrest Mahwah Teenager Who Allegedly Wanted to Be Hitman
A Mahwah NJ teen faces criminal charges for allegedly agreeing to perform a contract killing.
The 18-year-old suspect resides in Mahwah New Jersey and is reportedly the son of a New York State trooper from Schenectady County, New York. The teenage suspect allegedly agreed to commit a murder in exchange for cash and a handgun.
According to authorities, the suspect drove his car from his home to Mason Jar, a bar-restaurant in Mahwah, New Jersey. The suspect allegedly went to the bar to meet a man whom he had spoken to over the Internet. Prosecutors said that the other man had requested a hitman online.
It turned out that the person seeking a contract killer was actually an undercover cop. The police officer worked with other officers to access the dark web and seek out individuals willing to commit homicides.
The suspect was arrested at Mason Jar in an undercover sting operation. He was subsequently charged with conspiracy to commit murder. If the suspect is convicted on the very serious criminal charges, he could end up spending decades behind bars.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the jail on a massive bail amount of $1 million.
