Fair Lawn NJ Man Accused of Attacking Pal of Girlfriend, Charged with Manslaughter
A Fair Lawn NJ man charged with aggravated assault now faces manslaughter charges after a beating victim died due to his injuries.
According to the law enforcement, the suspect assaulted the victim at a residence on Smith Avenue in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The victim, a North Haledon man, was reportedly at the residence to visit an acquaintance who happened to be the suspect’s girlfriend.
At some point, the suspect allegedly got upset and attacked the victim. The victim sustained severe injuries to his face and head and was subsequently transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. The victim underwent emergency surgery at the Paterson hospital.
Meanwhile, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department investigated the incident and arrested the suspect.
The suspect was initially charged with aggravated assault. However, when the victim later died from his injuries, the suspect was charged with manslaughter.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the manslaughter charges, he could be sentenced to as many as 10 years in NJ State Prison.
