Fair Lawn NJ Man Seriously Injured in Violent Assault
Police in Fair Lawn New Jersey have arrested a man accused of violently assaulting his girlfriend’s pal.
According to Bergen County authorities, the victim sustained such serious physical injuries in the attack that he required medical attention at an emergency room and was still listed in critical condition after being treated.
The suspect allegedly committed the assault a short time after 5:30 p.m. at a house located on Smith Avenue in Fair Lawn, NJ. The victim had gone to the home to pick up a female friend who also happens to be the girlfriend of the suspect. (The suspect reportedly lives nearby the residence.)
The suspect reportedly got in the victim’s face and angrily yelled at him. At some point, the verbal altercation allegedly became physical, with the suspect attacking the victim.
The victim sustained significant injuries to his face and was later treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
The 49-yearold suspect was later arrested and charged with second degree aggravated assault. If the victim is convicted of aggravated assault, he could be sentenced to up to 10 years in NJ State Prison. Moreover, if the victim ends up dying due to his injuries, the suspect could face manslaughter or murder charges.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
