Young Girl Calls Cops on Dad, Says He Was Driving Drunk in Cliffside Park, New Jersey
A recent Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) case has gotten both national and local media attention because it reportedly involved an intoxicated Englewood Cliffs NJ man who passed out in a car while his four-year-old daughter was in the passenger seat.
The incident occurred before 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 3. The car was parked on the side of the road in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. When the young girl saw that her dad was unconscious, she got his cell phone and dialed 911 to alert local law enforcement.
The Cliffside Park Police Department sent officers to the area after using the cellphone signal to determine the vehicle location. When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw that the car was parked on the street and that the adult driver was slumped over the wheel and not moving. During a search of the motor vehicle, police allegedly came across a bottle of vodka that was half full.
Cliffside Park NJ police placed the 41-year-old suspect under arrest. The man, who lives in Englewood Cliffs NJ, was taken into police custody and charged with child endangerment. He was also cited for multiple traffic violations, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
The young girl was not injured during the scary incident. She was turned over to the custody of a sober relative.
