Paterson NJ Girl Murdered, Suspects Face Homicide Charges in Bergen County Superior Court

Suspects in Murder Case in Bergen County NJTen different suspects are headed to trial in a Bergen County court for their alleged involvement in the murder of a Paterson NJ teenager in 2014.

The tragic homicide occurred on September 20, 2014. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects were part of a group of people that walked past the 14-year-old victim as she walked on the sidewalk in her neighborhood.

Although the victim was reportedly not targeted the suspects, they allegedly killed her nonetheless.

All of the defendants in the case have already entered not guilty pleas. They face criminal charges for various offenses, including hindering apprehension, attempted murder, and murder.

Now, after a long delay in the case, the suspects will finally stand trial in Bergen County Superior Court, which is located in Hackensack NJ. The suspects’ criminal defense lawyers recently got transcripts of the grand jury proceedings.

The homicide was committed in Paterson NJ, in Passaic County, but the criminal trial will be held in Bergen County, NJ because a relative of the victim is employed in the Passaic County criminal court system.

One suspect in has been charged with first degree murder because he allegedly pulled the trigger on the handgun used to kill the victim. Many of the other suspects in the case have been charged with attempted murder.

If the suspect charged with murder is ultimately convicted on the very serious charges, he could be sentenced to life in New Jersey State Prison.
