Indiana Man Indicted on Sexual Assault Charges Stemming Out of Paramus, Mahwah, NJ

Paramus NJ Sexual Assault SuspectA Bergen County grand jury recently indicted an Indiana man on charges of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Paramus and Mahwah, New Jersey.

The sex crimes reportedly occurred in December 2012. According to Bergen County officials, the suspect committed the sexual assaults against a 15-year-old girl from Mahwah, NJ.

The suspect reportedly first encountered the teen victim in an Internet chat room that Bergen County law enforcement has described as a “Russian Roulette” chat service that allows users to randomly link to each other.

After first meeting the victim in the online chat room, the suspect allegedly drove 10 hours from Indiana to Bergen County so that he could meet her in person.

Once the suspect got to New Jersey, he reportedly picked up the victim and then sexually assaulted her in Mahwah and Paramus.

The 32-year-old suspect, who resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was later apprehended by police in New Jersey. He was subsequently charged with several crimes, including sexual assault, child endangerment, and hindering apprehension.

Now the suspect will have to answer the charges at trial after a Bergen County grand jury indicted him.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office indicated that the suspect is already a convicted sex offender who has a prior conviction for sexual misconduct with a juvenile in Indiana.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility on a $200K bail amount.
