Rockleigh NJ Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Minor in Northvale NJ
Police in Northvale NJ recently arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a juvenile victim.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 31-year-old suspect engaged in more than one illegal sexual act with the underage girl.
Northvale police began its investigation into the suspect after getting a report that he had committed at least one sexual assault. The Northvale Police Department quickly notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, which also began to look into the allegations.
Sometime after conducting an interview of the suspect, Bergen County NJ prosecutors determined that enough evidence existed to place the suspect under arrest and charge him with a sexual offense.
The suspect, who lives in Rockleigh New Jersey, was arrested and subsequently charged with numerous sex crimes, including sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and child endangerment.
If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the sexual assault charges, he would be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, sexual assault is usually classified as a second degree crime and carries a potential sentence of 5-10 years in NJ State Prison.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of a $150,000 bail amount.
