New York Man Charged with Sexual Abuse of 6-Year-Old Girl in Mahwah, NJ
A New York man is facing criminal charges for allegedly sexually abusing an underage girl over an extended period in Mahwah, NJ.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 32-year-old suspect committed the sexual offenses numerous times against a young girl between the ages of six and seven.
Police investigators first became aware of the sex offense allegations after the victim eventually confided with a therapist. The now-teen-aged victim also spoke with a caseworker with the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency. The victim reportedly told investigators that the suspect committed the sex crimes on “multiple occasions.”
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Mahwah Police Department investigated the sex offense allegations and determined that there was enough evidence to charge the suspect.
The suspect, who resides in Greenwood Lake NY, was then placed under arrest and charged with a number of sex crimes, including sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $100K bail amount.
