Ramsey New Jersey Man Charged with Sexual Assault, Allegedly Got Victim Drunk Before Attack

Sexual Assault Suspect in Ramsey NJA Ramsey NJ man was recently arrested after investigators determined that he committed a sexual assault of a young woman at his local apartment.

According to Ramsey police, the 42-year-old suspect met the 19-year-old victim and then invited her back to his apartment, which is located in the Regency Park complex in Ramsey New Jersey. The suspect allegedly convinced the victim to come to his apartment by telling her that they would be playing video games.

Once the two arrived at his apartment, the suspect allegedly tried to ply the woman with alcohol in the hopes of getting her intoxicated.

After the woman consumed an undisclosed number of alcoholic drinks, the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted her.

The victim later left the residence and contacted the Ramsey Police Department. She told police officers that the suspect got her drunk, grabbed her, forced her onto the bed, and then sexually assaulted her.

Ramsey New Jersey police investigated the allegations and eventually determined that they had probable cause to place the suspect under arrest for a sex crime.

The suspect was subsequently charged with sexual assault, in addition to supplying alcoholic beverages to an underage person.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted on the sexual assault charges, he would face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, anyone who uses physical force to commit an act of sexual penetration can potentially be charged with a second degree felony. A conviction on second degree sexual assault charges could result in a sentence of 5-10 years in state prison.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He is being housed at the jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
