The attack allegedly took place at a bus station located outside an apartment complex on Union Avenue. According to authorities, the suspect walked up to the 23-year-old victim while the victim waited for a bus to arrive.

The suspect and the victim, who reportedly already knew each other, began to argue. The verbal altercation escalated and the suspect allegedly pulled out a Smith & Wesson folding knife. The suspect then allegedly stabbed the victim several times.

The suspect allegedly ran away and fled the area on foot. It wasn’t long before Rutherford police identified the 29-year-old suspect as the attacker and issued a BOLO alert to surrounding areas.

Police eventually caught the suspect when an off-duty Rutherford police officer observed a man who matched the suspect’s description. The suspect was reportedly seen on Paterson Avenue in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
