Jaguar Reportedly Sideswipes Police Patrol Vehicle on Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs NJ, Leaves Scene of Accident

Englewood Cliffs Leaving Scene of Accident ChargesPalisades Interstate Parkway police are looking for a suspect who allegedly sideswiped a police car and then drove away.

According to authorities, the incident occurred on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.

The suspect was reportedly driving a green Jaguar XJ. The vehicle, which had NY plates, was allegedly traveling in the right lane on the northbound side of the highway.

At the time of the accident, the Palisades Interstate Parkway patrol officer’s cruiser was parked on the shoulder of the highway. The patrol officer was investigating a different accident when the Jaguar allegedly sideswiped the police vehicle and then fled the scene.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported as a result of either crash.

Palisades Interstate Parkway police are actively investigating the police vehicle collision. If the suspect is eventually identified and apprehended, they could face significant penalties for leaving the scene of an accident. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1.1, leaving the scene of an accident can be a criminal offense when the motor vehicle accident results in serious bodily injury. When the accident does not result in injuries, the offender can still be charged with a traffic violation under N.J.S.A. 39:4-129.
