Fairview and North Bergen Police Apprehend Two Men Accused of Robbing TD Bank in Fairview

Late Friday night, police officers discovered the car used by two (2) men to rob a bank earlier in the day.
Around 11:30 PM on Friday, police found a silver Nissan Altima on a street in uptown North Bergen NJ. It is believed that this was the vehicle used in a bank robbery in Fairview NJ. Additionally, police found a ski mask discarded in a trash can near where the Altima was parked.
44-year-old Gary Bohannon and 20-year-old Angel Felio-Alberto have been charged in the robbery of TD Bank in Fairview.
According to police, Mr. Bohannon was armed with a BB gun when he entered the bank and jumped over the counter. Meanwhile, Mr. Felio-Alberto held customers at knife-point.
After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, Mr. Bohannon and Mr. Felio-Alberto fled the scene. The pair initially escaped into North Bergen, where they attempted to carjack a van driven by a Fairview Department of Public Works DPW employee. When Mr. Bohannon was unable to get the van into the correct gear, he drove into a building and attempted to escape on foot.
Eventually, North Bergen police officers found Mr. Felio-Alberto hiding in Hoboken Cemetery in North Bergen, while North Bergen and Fairview police officers found Mr. Bohannon taking cover underneath a truck.
Both men have been charged with robbery, theft, and aggravated assault, in addition to other related charges. Mr. Bohannon faces additional charges, including carjacking, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, eluding police, and weapons offenses.
In New Jersey, robbery is addressed by N.J.S.A. 2C:15-1. As set forth by the statute, robbery is a first degree felony if the actors used a deadly weapon during the robbery. Because Mr. Bohannon was armed with a BB gun and Mr. Felio-Alberto had a knife, the men could be looking at up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison if convicted.
