Mahwah Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Child

Mahwah Sexual Assault SuspectA Mahwah NJ man has to answer aggravated sexual assault charges after he allegedly committed a sex crime and touched an underage child in a sexual manner.

The suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Mahwah, New Jersey. He reportedly works for the Department of Public Works. According to Bergen County authorities, the suspect inappropriately touched the underage victim at a location in Mahwah New Jersey in March 2017.

The victim, a 10-year-old child, reported the allegations and prompted an investigation by Bergen County prosecutors. Detectives with the prosecutor’s office talked to the relevant parties and ultimately determined that the suspect should be arrested.

The Mahwah suspect has been charged with sexual offenses that include aggravated sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Beyond that, the suspect’s job with the NJ Department of Public Works could be at risk. According to officials, the suspect is employed as the second assistant fire chief for Mahwah Emergency Services.

After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey.
