Off-Duty Belleville Cops Allegedly Got into Bar Fight, Arrested

Belleville NJ Bar Fight ChargesFour police officers with the Belleville Police Department were recently arrested and charged with simple assault after they allegedly got into a late-night fight at a bar.

The incident occurred at a bar in Bergen County NJ a few weeks ago. According to authorities, the suspects were patrons at the bar and got into a fight with other patrons. Security escorted the suspects off the premises, but that did not stop the fight from continuing outside the building.

Police officers soon arrived at the scene and questioned the suspects. While being questioned, one of the suspects allegedly gave responding officers a false name.

One individual was injured in the fight. He was later transported to Hackensack University Medical so that doctors could treat him for his minor injuries.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigation Unit opened an investigation and eventually determined that enough evidence existed to criminally charge the suspects.

The four Belleville NJ cops who were arrested include a 24-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 39-year-old man. The officers have all been charged with simple assault. Additionally, the suspect accused of providing a fake name to cops has been charged with hindering apprehension.

It was recently announced that the suspects have been suspended from the Belleville Police Department while the charges against them remain pending.
