Lodi NJ Man Accused of Driving Recklessly, Causing Car Accident That Injured Pregnant Woman
A man from Lodi NJ faces criminal charges after he allegedly caused a car accident and injured a pregnant woman on a road in Sparta, New Jersey.
According to law enforcement, the suspect was driving a Chevy Trailblazer and speeding on Route 15 in Sparta when he made an attempt to pass another car on the road. The suspect reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned onto a grass median and eventually came to a stop after crashing head-on into a Jeep Liberty headed in the opposite direction.
The head-on crash caused significant physical injuries to the 36-year-old driver of the other vehicle, a pregnant woman from Hamburg, NJ. In addition to injuring the pregnant driver of the Jeep, the car accident also caused injuries to a 20-year-old passenger in the suspect’s car.
When Sparta NJ police officers got to the scene of the accident, they talked to the suspect and witnesses. According to authorities, the suspect lied to police and made false statements about what happened in the moments preceding the car crash.
Meanwhile, the pregnant woman injured in the auto accident was transported to a Morristown NJ hospital and treated for her injuries. Thankfully, she was later listed in stable conditions and there were no significant issues that might affect her pregnancy.
The suspect is a 20-year-old male from Lodi, New Jersey. He has been charged with multiple counts of assault by auto in connection with the auto accident. Additionally, the suspect has been charged with obstruction of justice because he allegedly made false statements to Sparta cops who were investigating the car crash.
