Police Look for Answers in Apparent Murder-Suicide Involving Married Couple, Young Daughter in Edgewater, NJ
Edgewater police are investigating a likely murder-suicide involving a family at a local high-rise complex.
The shocking incident occurred at the Windsor at Mariners Towers, a high-rise luxury apartment building on the Hudson River bank in Edgewater, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County officials, the tragic homicides occurred during the holidays. The bodies of a husband and wife, and their eight-year-old daughter, were found by police on Christmas night.
When Edgewater NJ police officers discovered the victims’ bodies, they saw that several Christmas presents had been wrapped and placed under a Christmas tree inside the home.
The adult victims were a 53-year-old man and his 49-year-old wife. Their bodies, as well as the body of the couple’s daughter, were found by Edgewater police officers who had been called to the scene after receiving word from concerned relatives of the family.
Edgewater investigators believe that the husband shot and killed his wife and daughter in the backs of their heads. The husband then reportedly placed the handgun against his chin and shot himself.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Edgewater Police Department are still investigating the homicides and trying to determine the suspect’s possible motive for the killings.
