Driver Could Face Vehicular Manslaughter Charges in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Teaneck, NJ

According to Teaneck authorities, the tragic accident happened around 6:45 p.m. The 59-year-old victim, who resided in Teaneck, New Jersey, was trying to cross Cedar Lane at Garrison Avenue when a passing vehicle struck and killed him.

Teaneck NJ police received a report of the car crash and dispatched officers to the area. When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the injured victim lying on the roadway.

Emergency medical responders transported the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center, where doctors tried to save his life. Tragically, the victim died as a result of significant bodily injuries sustained in the car accident.

Teaneck New Jersey investigators spoke with witnesses at the scene of the auto accident. Witnesses provided police with a description of the suspect’s vehicle: the suspect was said to be driving a large, black SUV. Authorities have indicated that the suspect’s SUV might have sustained significant damage to the vehicle’s front area, including the passenger bumper and the front hood.

After the hit-and-run crash, the suspect reportedly drove away and headed east on Cedar Lane.

If police can eventually identify and track down the suspect, the driver would probably be subject to serious criminal charges for vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.
