New York Man Busted for Shoplifting, Heroin Possession in Mahwah, NJ

Shoplifting Charges in Mahwah NJPolice in Mahwah New Jersey recently busted a NY man who is accused of shoplifting several items from a local gas station.

According to officials, the theft occurred at the Gulf gas station on Route 17 in Mahwah, NJ. The 21-year-old suspect reportedly entered the station and stole multiple items by concealing them in his pockets.

The suspect also reportedly tried to buy a water bottle with a $100 bill. When the store clerk got suspicious and questioned the suspect about the items that were in his pockets, the suspect reportedly got violent and hit the clerk.

Store employees contacted the Mahwah Police Department, which dispatched officers to the scene. A short time later, police officers located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

While conducted a search of the suspect, police allegedly found him in possession of 124 wax folds of heroin. Police also reportedly discovered the suspect with a hypodermic needle.

The suspect was subsequently charged with many crimes, including robbery, shoplifting, theft of movable property, possession of heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was transported to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $120,000 bail amount.
