Cliffside Park NJ Man Allegedly Raped 9-Year-Old Girl in Fairview, NJ

Cliffside Park NJ Rape SuspectFairview New Jersey police recently arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the 25-year-old suspect raped the 9-year-old victim four years ago. The suspect, who is from Cliffside Park NJ, allegedly committed at least one sexual assault against the young victim.

The Fairview Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit worked together on the investigation into the suspect. Police initiated the investigation after the victim’s family came forward with the allegations and spoke with Fairview police.

Once investigators obtained enough evidence, the suspect was placed under arrest. The suspect was then charged with a number of sex crimes, including aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted of aggravated sexual assault, he would face significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, anyone who commits an act of sexual penetration with a victim who is under the age of 13 can be charged with a first degree criminal offense. A conviction on first degree aggravated sexual assault charges could result in a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $300,000 bail. If and when he secures his release from custody, the suspect will not be allowed to have any contact with the alleged victim.

The suspect is due to make an appearance in Bergen County Superior Court for an arraignment on the sex crime charges.
