Teaneck Police Arrest Driver Who Was Allegedly Drunk, Hit Pedestrian

Assault by Auto in Teaneck, New JerseyPolice in Teaneck NJ recently arrested a man accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and hitting a pedestrian.

According to police, the 54-year-old suspect was driving a white van on Chadwick Road in Teaneck, New Jersey. Around that time, the 55-year-old victim was walking in the street due to snow on the sidewalks. The suspect, who lives in Teaneck, allegedly hit the victim, who is from Fresh Meadows, NY.

Although the suspect reportedly stopped his vehicle for a moment after the accident, he fled the scene shortly thereafter.

As a result of the hit-and-run accident, the victim suffered a broken leg. He was taken to nearby Holy Name Hospital, where he received medical treatment for his injuries.

Teaneck police investigated the accident and spoke with witnesses at the scene. One witness gave police detailed information on the van, including a license plate number.

A short time later, a Teaneck police sergeant spotted the van and brought the vehicle to a stop in a Cedar Lane parking lot.

At the time of the vehicle stop, the suspect was allegedly intoxicated.

Police arrested the suspect and charged him with several offenses, including assault by auto, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while intoxicated (DWI).

The suspect was later released from police custody after posting bail in the amount of $4,500.
