Fairview NJ Man Faces Charges for Sexual Assault of Young Girl

Fairview NJ Aggravated Sexual Assault ChargesPolice arrested a man from Fairview NJ who allegedly committed sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl.

The investigation began when New Jersey child welfare officials received a report that the 31-year-old suspect has sexually abused a young girl. According to prosecutors, the suspect knew the victim.

After being notified of the alleged abuse, detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office interviewed the victim. The victim reportedly told investigators that the sexual abuse occurred in 2012. The victim was reportedly 10 years old at the time.

Additionally, the victim reportedly provided “specific details” about the illegal sexual encounter with the suspect.

The prosecutor’s office completed the investigation and determined that the suspect had sexually abused the victim.

Police arrested the suspect and charged him with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted of aggravated sexual assault, he will be subject to severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2, aggravated sexual assault is a first degree criminal offense. A conviction for aggravated sexual assault could result in a sentence of 10–20 years in NJ State Prison. Additionally, the suspect would have to register as a sex offender after being released from prison.

Following his arrest, the suspect was transported to the Bergen County Jail. He is being held at the facility on a $500,000 bail amount.

The suspect will be required to appear in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack NJ to address the charges against him.
