Police Search for Two Men Accused of Assaulting, Robbing 63-Year-Old Man in Elmwood Park, New Jersey

Elmwood Park NJ Robbery AttorneysElmwood Park NJ police are looking for two men who are accused of robbing and assaulting a 63-year-old man.

According to authorities, the victim parked his vehicle shortly after midnight in the parking lot of the Elmwood Court development in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. The victim lives in the development and was returning home for the night.

When the victim got out of his car, he was allegedly attacked by two men. The suspects reportedly approached the suspect from behind and began punching him in the head and the face until he fell to the pavement. According to the victim, the suspects then kicked him repeatedly.

The suspects then allegedly reached into the victim’s pocket and grabbed a number of items, including a wallet, an iPhone, and a knapsack.

Once the suspects had what they were after, they reportedly fled the scene on foot and ran toward River Drive.

Although the victim was disoriented and hurt, he was able to walk to a neighbor’s residence and get help. When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw that the victim had suffered injuries to his ribs, as well as lacerations to his face and head. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson NJ, where he received medical treatment.

Police conducted an investigation into the alleged theft. Officers with the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit and the Elmwood Park Police Department canvassed the area; however, they could not find the suspects.

The victim was able to give police descriptions of the suspects. According to the victim, the attackers were black men in their early 20s. They are both said to be roughly 5-feet-9-inches tall. Additionally, they are said to have been wearing black jackets and dark hats when the attack occurred.

If police are able to identify and apprehend the alleged attackers, they could be subject to serious criminal charges for aggravated assault and robbery.
