Hackensack Man Accused of Leading Police on Car Chase in Elmwood Park, Charged with Eluding
Elmwood Park police arrested a 29-year-old Hackensack NJ man who allegedly refused to stop his vehicle and led officers on a potentially dangerous car chase.
Elmwood Park NJ patrol officers allegedly saw the suspect commit a traffic violation on Route 80. When the officers attempted to pull over the suspect, he reportedly fled the scene.
The officers chased the suspect’s vehicle on Route 80. During the car chase, the officers allegedly saw the suspect throw illegal drugs out of his car window. However, police could not recover the alleged drugs.
The officers eventually stopped the suspect’s vehicle near Essex Street and Prospect Avenue in Hackensack, NJ. No one was injured as a result of the car chase.
The suspect was arrested and charged with eluding police and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was also cited for several traffic violations, including reckless driving and careless driving.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. He has a pending court date in Elmwood Park Municipal Court to answer the charges against him.
