A house party late Saturday night resulted in four arrests on Sunday morning for charges of aggravated assault on a police officer, rioting, hindering apprehension, and resisting arrest. According to the Bergen Record article entitled, “Hackensack house party leads to four arrests”, the house party of about 60 people spilled into the street on Sunday morning which led to the police presence and subsequent arrests. The party goers were not fighting with each other and the incident was not gang related. According to the article:

“Police arrested four people; all were still being held at the Bergen County jail on Monday: Kashawan West, 21, of Hackensack was charged with rioting and resisting arrest and was being held on $35,000 bail with no 10 percent option; Leonard Gueye, 21, of Staten Island, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, rioting, hindering apprehension and attempting to disarm a police officer and was being held on $75,000 bail; Bryant Dula, 18, of Bogota, was charged with rioting and resisting arrest and was being held on $35,000 bail; and Thomas Jasko, 23, of Woodcliff Lake, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, hindering apprehension and resisting arrest and was being held $75,000 bail.”

Some of these charges are indictable (felony) level offenses which must be handled at the Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey. Others are considered disorderly persons charges which can be handled at the Hackensack Municipal Court.
